The Media Arts Academy partnered with Urban Alliance Inc. this summer to produce the latest documentary entitled Out of Edison-What Would My Community Look Like If….” The youth producers decided to focus on three topics that were of interest to them: Violence, Poverty and Health. This documentary includes interviews that represent a diversity of views from leaders, business owners, parents, educators and students from different neighborhoods within the city of Kalamazoo. A special thank you to our new staff members: Kate Densmore B.A. in Film, a graduate from Western Michigan University and her brother Luke Densmore who is in his second year of Liberal Arts at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Luke has extensive experience in film production and a portfolio filled with commercials and promotional material that he has produced for local businesses. Media Arts Academy returning graduates for this summer were Charita Quinn (Who in the World is Merze Tate?) and Deborah Stoneburner (Racism Through the Eyes of Youth).
